On Tuesday evening, the Middle School Bethesda Lions Boys Basketball team engaged in an exhilarating contest against 4A Lake Country Christian. Despite LCC's initial dominance, with a 35-17 lead at the midpoint of the second quarter, the Lions rallied. Riley Tucker scored the first 17 points, keeping the team in the game. The Lions intensified their defense, embarking on a 12-2 run to narrow the deficit to 37-29 at halftime. Riley led the team with all 29 points at the end of the first half.
The Lions persevered throughout the second half. Riley Tucker continued to score effectively from various distances, including layups, mid-range shots, and three-pointers. With two minutes remaining, Reid Tucker drew in the defense and made a pass to Tucker Robinson, who executed a crucial floater to take the lead by two points. Wesley Hawkins made a great defensive play to deter LCC's last shot, which resulted in a Bethesda rebound. Riley secured the game on two made free throws, resulting in a 62-58 victory. Riley Tucker's impressive 57-point performance included five three-pointers, contributing significantly to the Lions' triumph.
